What are your credentials?
I am Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Colorado, in practice for 24 years. I have a Masters degree in Experimental Psychology.
What can I expect from working with you?
Our overarching focus will be helping you identify and get what you want out of your time on this Earth. Everybody is different, so we will tailor our work to your needs and wants, but the process will center on understanding who you are, determining what you want from your life, recognizing what’s keeping you from what you want, and making very specific plans to get to wherever you decide or discover that you want to go.
This is a headwater approach to counseling in that it frames everything within the big picture of your mortality, and helps you sort your life from there. It will not hide out in lofty non-specifics. It will be a 50,000-foot-to-ground-level -experience that starts with addressing your presenting issue/s so we understand what’s most important to you, and possibly uncovering issues you didn’t realize were inhibiting you.
How much do you charge for counseling?
$200/hour.
Do you take insurance?
No.
How long are sessions?
60 minutes, but longer sessions can be worked out.
Do you offer weekend or evening sessions?
I like what I do and and do it on purpose; it’s also my own business which provides me freedom around scheduling, which includes evenings and weekends.
Do you offer virtual counseling?
At this time I only offer virtual counseling as I have found that people want to be able to slot in sessions between meetings or other obligations during the day or evening, without the hassle of traveling to the appointment. COVID did change things. Some people are also simply too far away for an office visit to be practical. Virtual can be a on a screen or on the phone. All that said, I may return to offering in-person sessions in the future as I’ve found that there is great value for some in being in the same room.
How long should I expect to see you?
There is a joke that there is no incentive for the therapist to help you get better and put themselves out of business. This is almost always untrue but it is my practice to see you only for so long as it is working for you. I will say that a few sessions isn’t likely to cut it: think of the process I outlined above involving circumambulating your presenting problem and developing a Philosophy-Vision-Strategy-Tactics for your desired life. This type of therapy can take place over months, although many people find that it is an incredibly useful tool to retain throughout their life. It’s your call.
Do you offer a consultation?
Absolutely. I offer a no-charge 30 minute call so you can hear me and I can hear you and we can decide if I am the right person to help you get what you’re looking for.
